論語/學而-1

【原文】

子（1）曰：「學而時習之，不亦說（2）乎？有朋（3）自遠方來，不亦樂乎？人不知而不慍（4），不亦君子（5）乎？」

【英文】

The Master said. “Is it not a plcasure having learned something to try it out at due intervals? Is it not a joy to have like-minded friends come from afar? Is it not gendemanly not to take offence when others fail to appreciate your abilities?”

【注釋】

（1）弟子稱師為子，《論語》中的子曰都是指孔子。

（2）說同〈悅〉，心中歡喜。

（3）朋，指志同道合的人。

（4）慍，怨恨。

（5）君子，指有道德修養的人。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「學習知識並且按一定的時間去溫習它，不也是很高興的嗎？有同學從遠方來，不也是很快樂的嗎？不被別人了解而不抱怨，不也是很有君子風度的嗎？」

【主旨】君子主體之獨立品格，人格真實之道
