【原文】

子曰：「能以禮讓（1）為國（2）乎，何有（3）！不能以禮讓為國，如禮何！」

【英文】

The Master said, “For a man who is able to govern a state by observing the rites and showing deference, what is there to holding office? For a man who is unable to govern a state by observing the rites and showing deference, what good can the rites be to him?”

【注釋】

（1）禮讓，禮主敬，則行為合宜，讓主和，則上下無爭。

（2）為國，治國。

（3）何有，何難之有，言不難也。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「能以禮讓來治國，那還有什麼困難呢？如果不能已禮讓來治國，徒有禮的虛文，又將怎麼辦呢？」

【主旨】君子與其存在，君子面對自己之存在與成就，君子與外在成就與作為。
