【原文】

子曰：「片言（1）可以折獄（2）者，其由也與！」子路無宿諾（3）。

【英文】

The Master said, “If anyone can arrive at the truth in a legal dispute on the evidence of only one party it is, perhaps You.”

Zi-lu never put off the fulfilment of a promise to the next day.

【注釋】

（1）片言，言片面之辭。片，半也。

（2）折獄，斷獄。

（3）無宿諾，急於履行諾言，不拖延。宿，留也。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「聽片面之辭就能夠判決案件的人，大概就只有仲由吧！」子路承應人的話，沒有拖延不履行的。

【主旨】子路有明斷篤信之德。
