【原文】

子曰：「居上不寬，為禮（1）不敬，臨喪（2）不哀，吾何以觀之哉？」

【英文】

The Master said, “What can I find worthy of note in a man who is lacking in tolerance when in high positions, in reverence when performing the rites and in sorrow when in mourning?”

【注釋】

（1）為禮，行禮。

（2）臨喪，臨視他人之喪。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「在上位不能寬宏大量，行禮時不恭敬，弔祭時不悲哀，這種人，我還有什麼可看的？」
