【原文】

子曰：「不有祝鮀（1）之佞，而有宋朝（2）之美，難乎免於今之世矣。」

【英文】

The Master said, “You may have the good looks of Song Chao, but you will find it difficult to escape unscathed in this world if you do not, at the same time, have the smooth tongue of the Priest Tuo.”

【注釋】

（1）祝鮀，祝，宗廟之官。鮀，衛大夫，字子魚，有口才。

（2）宋朝，宋公子，有美色。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「一個人如果沒有祝鮀那樣的口才，卻有宋國公子朝那樣的美貌，是很難免禍於當今社會的啊！ 」
【主旨】論在世中中庸之世態，世間非中庸之道者。
