【原文】

子曰：「巍巍乎（1），舜禹之有天下也，而不與（2）焉。」

【英文】

The Master said, “How lofty Shun and Yu were in holding aloof from the Empire when they were in possession of it.”

【注釋】

（1）巍巍乎，高大貌。乎，猶然，語助詞。

（2）不與，猶言不相關，言其不以居位為樂。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「多偉大呀！舜、禹雖有天下，並不以有天下為樂。」

【主旨】君王之德，以德行得天下之德。
