【原文】

子欲居九夷（1）。或曰：「陋（2），如之何？」子曰：「君子居之，何陋之有！」

【英文】

The Master wanted to settle among the Nine Barbarian Tribes of the east.

Someone said, “But could you put up with their uncouth ways?”

The Master said, “Once a gentleman settles among them, what uncouthness will there be?”

【注釋】

（1）九夷，東方之夷，有九種，言東方之群夷，指高麗。

（2）陋，文化閉塞落後。

【翻譯】

孔子想要到東方的九夷去居住。有人說：「那兒太閉塞落後了，怎麼能居住呢？」孔子說：「只要君子去住，普及教化，又怎麼會閉塞呢？」

【主旨】論在現實存在中之無我，現實存在中及作為中之無我，從生活言之無我。
