【原文】

樊遲問仁。子曰：「居處（1）恭，執事（2）敬，與人忠；雖之（3）夷狄（4），不可棄也。」

【英文】

Fan Chi asked about benevolence. The Master said, “While at home, hold yourself in a respectful attitude; when serving in an official capacity, be reverent; when dealing with others, give off your best. These are qualities that cannot be put aside, even if you go and live among the barbarians.”

【注釋】

（1）居處，言日常起居。

（2）執事，行事。

（3）之，往也。

（4）夷狄，指未開化之異邦。

【翻譯】

樊遲問行仁的道理。孔子說：「平常起居要恭謹，做事要敬慎，待人要忠誠。。雖然是到蠻夷之邦，也是不能廢棄以上的三點原則。」

【主旨】仁者之行。
