【原文】

或問「子產」。子曰：「惠人也。」問「子西（1）」。曰：「彼哉（2）彼哉！」問「管仲」。曰：「人也，奪伯氏駢邑三百（3），飯疏食，沒齒（4），無怨言。」

【英文】

Someone asked about Zi-chan. The Master said, “He was a generous man.” He asked about Zi-xi. The Master said, “That man! That man!” He then asked about Guan Zhong. The Master said, “He was a man. He took three hundred households from the fief of the Bo family in the city of Pian, and Bo, reduced to living on coarse rice, did not utter a single word of complaint to the end of his days”

【注釋】

（1）子西，楚公子申，能讓國，立昭王，而改革其政，亦賢大夫。

（2）彼哉，表示輕視的習慣語，言無足稱道。

（3）奪伯氏駢邑三百，伯氏，齊大夫。駢邑，地名。管仲曾經剝奪伯氏之邑三百戶的采地，然伯氏自知己罪，而心服管仲之功，故窮約以終身而無怨言。

（4）沒齒，猶言終身。

【翻譯】

有人問子產是怎麼樣的人？孔子回答說：「他是個寬厚詞愛護人。」又問子西。孔子說：「他呀！他呀！」又問管仲。孔子說：「這個人曾經剝奪齊國大夫伯氏在駢邑三百戶的采地，使伯氏吃粗飯淡菜，可是伯氏ㄧ直到死都沒有一句怨恨的話。」

【主旨】歷評子產、子西、管仲之為人。
