【原文】

子貢問曰：「有一言（1）而可以終身行之者乎？」子曰：「其恕（2）乎！己所不欲，勿施於人。」

【英文】

Zi-gong asked, “Is there a suitable word which can be a guide to conduct throughout one’s life?”

The Master said, “It is perhaps the word ‘shu’. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.”

【注釋】

（1）一言，一字。

（2）恕，言推己及人之心。

【翻譯】

子貢問道：「有一個字可以終身奉行的嗎？」孔子說：「大概就是恕字吧！自己所不喜歡的事，不要強加在別人身上。」

【主旨】可終身奉行之恕道。
