【原文】

子夏曰：「日知其所亡，月無忘其所能（1），可謂好學也已矣。」

【英文】

Zi-xia said, “A man can, indeed, be said to be eager to learn who is conscious, in the course of a day, of what he lacks and who never forgets in the course of a month, what he has mastered.”

【注釋】

（1）日知其所亡二句，日知其所無，言既學之後，當經常溫習，使其不忘。亡，無也，謂己之所未有。

【翻譯】

子夏說：「每天求取一些自己所不知道的知識，每個月溫習一下我所學會的，不把他忘掉，能這樣就可稱得上是好學了！」

【主旨】言溫故知新，亦可謂好學。
