【原文】

子曰：「回也，其心三月（1）不違仁，其餘則日月至焉（2）而已矣。」

【英文】

The Master said, “For three months at a time Hui does not lapse from benevolence in his heart. The others attain benevolence merely by fits and starts.”

【注釋】

（1）三月，言其久。

（2）日月至焉，或日一至焉，或月一至焉，能造其域而不能長久。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「顏回嘛，他的心能長期不違背仁道。其餘的學生就只有在一天或一個月裡偶爾能做到罷了。」

【主旨】論庸道，對微薄重視之態度，事情作為之微細。
