【原文】

季氏（1）富於周公（2），而求也為之聚斂而附益之（3）。子曰：「非吾徒也，小子鳴鼓而攻之（4）可也！」

【英文】

The wealth of Ji was greater than that of the Duke of Zhou, and still Qiu helped him add further to that wealth by raking in the taxes. The Master said, “He is no disciple of mine. You, my young friends, may attack him openly to the beating of drums.”

【注釋】

（1）季氏，魯臣，諸侯之卿。

（2）周公，周公旦之後，世襲周王室之公爵而留於王朝者。

（3）求也為之聚斂而附益之，言冉求為季氏宰，為之增加稅賦。聚歛，搜刮。

（4）鳴鼓而攻之，言聲其罪而討之。

【翻譯】

季氏比周天子王朝的周公還要富有，而冉求擔任季氏的家臣,還替他搜刮而使他更富有。孔子說：「他不是我的門徒，弟子們，可以接發他的罪行而聲討他。」

【主旨】責備冉求為季氏家臣而重賦稅。
