【原文】

子曰：「君子成人之美（1），不成人之惡；小人反是（2）。」

【英文】

The Master said, “The gentleman helps others to effect what is good; he does not help them to effect what is bad. The small man does the opposite.”

【注釋】

（1）成人之美，言人之善者，則誘掖獎勸以成之。成，成全。美，善也。

（2）反是，與此正好相反。

【翻譯】

孔子說：「君子成全別人的好事，不成全別人的壞事。小人卻剛好相反。」

【主旨】言君子小人之用心不同。
